Tininn Lodge was purpose designed by the late George Lucking, a famous Canterbury architect, and constructed by Murray who drew on a lifetimes work as an artisan and carpenter to bring many fine and innovative details to the finished home. Both Murray and Deirdre have had previous hosting experience with motels in nearby Hanmer Springs for years. As a trained teacher, more recently retired from applying these skills to drug and alcohol rehabilitation in Christchurch, Deirdre like Murray has brought into the furnishings and design the rich flavour of their childhoods in the best of NZ’s high country farming traditions. Their love for their children and grandchildren is subtly evident throughout this wonderful home. In all a place of homeliness, elegance and peace.

Get Bill to drop you off at Lawrie and Jenny O'Carroll's stable and climb onto one of their hill country bred horses and take a wilderness trek of between 2 hours and 12 days or land at the magnificent Waimakariri Gorge golf Course, just one of several available, for a round of golf with well known sportsman, Ross Murray. Benefit from the talent and personality of a man with many years golf behind him! A visit to some of the exceptional wineries in the Waipara Valley is a great way to spend some time.
